Did you know that through-out Europe in the early centuries the Coats of Arms and Crests were very similar, especially around the twelfth century. The rise of Heraldry and the emergence of Coats of Arms is thought to have been associated with the Crusades and the Knights that would have fought during these very fearful and difficult time in Western Europe.
